Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Item upgrading allows players to enhance their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, boosting the base stats of the item or providing additional benefits. To upgrade an item, the player needs to have it in their inventory and have access to the kiln.
Usually items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base while items with strong bases like eth titans aren't affected in their stats following being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components are items that can be incorporated into trinkets, weapons, armor and gathering tools, providing an added bonus or effect while the equipment is being used. They can be purchased from vendors, found in loot, dropped by enemies, or obtained as rewards from missions or chests. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level before they are upgraded.
To upgrade an item of armor, the user must select it, and then click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. This will display on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade statistics and the necessary component or materials.
There are three kinds of upgrade components including universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which include gems, can be put in any type of equipment and offer less bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear or legendary equipment, are the same as gems, but offer higher bonuses and are not able to be placed in any other kind of equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add the suffix to the end of the names of items. For instance adding the suffix Glyph will transform a Staff wrapping of Minor Vigor a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.
In the case of upgrades for gathering tools when a player swaps one glyph with another the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, except for inscriptions which can be freely swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant changes from previous versions. Gear is now divided into tracks, and items can only be upgraded a specific number of times before being "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level however the materials required aren't as high. This allows players to focus their efforts on a handful of essential items and maximize their impact, rather than spreading out the upgrade costs across multiple items.
This will enable the item to receive new upgrade components and a greater chance of success. item upgrading is referred to as the Artisan's Energy, and it will reset to zero in the event of failure, or increases when the upgrade is successful.
Once a piece is upgraded to its highest level it can be eligible to gain affixes which will increase its features. The number of affixes that are available is determined by the item's class. For instance an uncommon or rare weapon with a base that is normal will only have two affixes to choose from and legendary armors will have up to eight affixes for it.
Each upgrade process requires a specific number of Flightstones or Crests, based on whether the item is at its current level, and in which slot it is located in. In general, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.
If an item does not get to its maximum level, the NPC will give the player the option to transfer it to another character and re-infuse it with another set of upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and will cost the same amount of materials. However it has a lower rate of success.
To measure the height of a building engineers employ an instrument to compare the measurement against an established reference point, like a benchmark or the ground's elevation. This process is called a "level loop." It involves taking readings using the backsight rod and level, then turning the level and taking the foresight rod reading. This method helps ensure that buildings are built to a high standard of safety and accuracy.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is a crucial aspect of the game and can dramatically improve an item's strength or damage, as well as other attributes. You can do this via the item menu, or by pressing the Reroll button when you upgrade an item. Rerolling is costly and should only be performed in very rare instances.
Reroll tokens are earned by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original item or a comparable item. Recyclable items have an indicator of the level which shows how much of the upgrade gauge has been filled. The rarity and the cost of upgrading an item will determine the amount of level filled.
Prior to this, some upgrades were given priority affixes which made them easier to roll. This meant that you'd receive the stats that mattered most to your build more often than other. These included things such as the armor's total armor, thorns, and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This has changed since the latest patch. Priority affixes are no longer required and all upgrades will have the same chance of rolling for all stats. This can be good or bad, depending on what you're looking for and want from your equipment.
Each upgraded item may have a unique bonus that increases the power of the item by a set percentage or flat value. These bonuses are added into the usual affixes. The more you improve a product, the better your chances of receiving an exclusive bonus.
The game also features various sets which grant a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are installed on an item. This is a great method to add a lot of power to a particular character without spending a lot of money.
Many players are known to reroll their weapons and equipment particularly in the beginning stages. Rerolling is a method to get a more powerful character faster, allowing players to advance in the game and attain higher tiers.
Sets
Sets are collections that can be set up in different ways. They can have various sizes, have no elements at all, or contain a single element. They can be utilized to organize data or sort information. They also aid in analyzing patterns. Sets can be classified in many ways, such as by size and shape.
There are many set items that can be upgraded in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Certain items are worth upgrading, while some aren't. Upgrades are worthwhile for armor sets with high defense value and set bonuses. Weapon upgrades are not as effective in improving stats as their purple counterparts. This makes them less appealing to upgrade when your collection of armor and weapons pieces is already huge.
Some set items are upgraded to take advantage of their own unique functions which can be beneficial in certain builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded to Extraordinary Winged Helms and Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements also increased).
Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them up to the same level with their tiers. For instance, the Immortal King set has a large level range, from 29 to 76. Upgrades to lower level items can enhance their defense, and improve their performance when it comes to damage.
To determine if a product is worth upgrading, players can click the Upgrade button on their screen for their character. It will show the item's characteristics, as well as the necessary items required to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth Face for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Alternatively, players can visit the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to check the upgrade requirements for specific items.
In general the jewelry and weapons have better trade value when fully upgraded than armor. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons with weapons-damage or spell glyphs. This will result in a significant improvement in their performance. Weapons with an upgraded appearance will benefit from this upgrade as its defense value will increase as it moves from purple to gold.
