Path of Exile Item Upgrading
In Path of Exile, item upgrading is one of the most effective ways to upgrade your gear without relying on big-ticket drops or trade. This article will show you how to upgrade your gear.
Upgrades to equipment provide a bonus on the item's stats. The bonus is based on the rarity and strength of the upgrade component.
Components
Upgrade components are the parts that improve your armor and weapons more effective. You can acquire them by fighting off enemies, locating them in item spheres or purchasing them from karma sellers. You can also get them from equipment that has the components, or by utilizing salvage kits of high-end quality, such as Black Lion Salvage Kit and Ascended Salvage Tool. Upgrade components are not destroyed when you remove them from the item.
Upgrade components are primarily used to upgrade an item, however, they can also be used for other purposes. They can be used to increase the quality of an item that can be upgraded or they can be used to increase the amount of experience gained from upgrading an existing weapon or piece of gear. They can also be made to give additional bonuses. For instance, a crafted glyph will boost the upgrade chance of its target, whereas an upgrade boost will increase the attack or defense quality of a weapon or armor.
You can connect an upgrade template to an item by selecting it from the edition GUI. It will display a list of upgrade components that the item can be upgraded to. You can also use the workbench when selecting an upgrade template. In either case, the item will be upgraded once enough upgrade components have been collected.
Each component has a distinct experience multiplier, which determines the amount of experience an item gets when it is upgraded with that component. Organic components, for instance have an increased multiplier of experience than mechanical components. It is recommended to upgrade your organic components first until you reach the next rank in the weapon or equipment, then switch to mechanical upgrades.
In addition to the multiplier for experience every item also has the maximum number of upgrades it can receive. The number of upgrades is determined by the upgradeable rank and the type of upgrade for the upgradeable item. For example, the highest possible weapon upgrade is a weapon with tier 10. The most commonly used upgrade is a gun with tier 6 and an armor upgrade of tier 5.
Sets
A set is a collection of items that share bonuses. Each item in the set can be upgraded at least once, and the upgrade increases the amount of bonuses that are guaranteed. When you first upgrade the set piece or weapon will give it an increase of +1 to its primary stat. On subsequent upgrades the primary stats will be increased a bit further (for example, +1 to 12+/13+/14+), and each time you upgrade the item, one of its extra stats is boosted randomly.
item upgrades can also boost the damage base of a weapon. This could be crucial for certain types of weapons. item upgrades can't be upgraded for greater maximum defence rolls than their base. It is a good option to increase the value of a set and unique items, however it is important to keep in mind that they may not be more effective than a high-level raneword in any build.
If an item you're upgrading has a guaranteed bonus, it can be rerolled once and the guarantee will reset to 0. Rerolling is the same amount of power dice as the process of leveling an item, however the upgraded item will come with different extra bonuses. Upgrades can be completed by visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in the Central Flarine. To upgrade an item, you will require the proper amount of Minerals and Erons as well as a power dice of each type. These are available at the crafting table or the Ultra Collector, and are available for purchase with Gold. NPCs also offer special rewards for each completed level of the upgrade process. This reward can be rerolled a second time, and the reroll will be made using the same materials as the first item.
Rerolling
If a player has enough tokens for rerolling, they can reroll any item that they've accumulated during the game. When an item is rerolled it will be replaced with a level 1 version in another set. Reroll tokens are available from the store for an amount of in-game currency, but they aren't refundable. The new item will offer the same bonus features like the first, however the stats will be different.
In addition to rerolling items players can also change the identification of any item by engaging with an upgrader NPC. This will change the identification from a weapon to armor or vice versa, all the while keeping its basic stats and the attributes it requires. The change is permanent and will affect all characters that are wearing the gear.
The player can also upgrade the item level for any equipment that is equipped. This is done by engaging with an upgrader NPC, and then obtaining upgrade items. This will cost a set amount of crests and Valorstones dependent on the upgrade track and the item type. In the case of weapons, each upgrade will add five percent to the damage.
The upgrade of an item will make it more powerful however it can reduce its effectiveness. It is therefore important to find a balance between the two. Some items are not worth upgrading, while others need to be upgraded to maximize their potential. A player may want to upgrade the breakpoint armor by adding an interesting modification ( percent block chance, or FHR) to discover what it could become.
Rerolling is a common practice in Genshin Impact and other gacha-based games. People do it in order to get the character or weapon they would not otherwise be able to acquire. These items are time-consuming and costly to obtain and the RNG doesn't always play nice. The only options is to shell out real money or grind a lot. Rerolling is extremely popular in Genshin Impact.
Leveling
When upgrading an item you can upgrade the weapon or armor. This feature isn't available in the current version of the game. I believe that this feature was intended to give value to rare and expensive items. However, as item upgrade is replaced quickly and can only be upgraded one level, you will typically replace it before it becomes too old. It's not worth upgrading items using gem sockets since the power of the gem will outweigh any increment in the ilvl.
You will see a small box when you click the upgrade option for an item. It will display the template of the item, the Crest, as well as the cost for Valorstone to raise the item's level. The cost will differ between weapons and armor, with the former usually costing more than the latter. The upgrade template outlines the stats to be added to an upgraded item and also the current base ilvl.
The cost of the Valorstone and Crest is calculated using the current Ilvl of the item as well as the upgrade templates. Additionally, the ilvl of the new upgraded item will be decreased by the template's lvl reduction percentage. For example, a weapon with an upgrade decrease of 8% will reduce its value by 8-8 percent.

The item will be upgraded to other stats, such as critical strike damage, PvE damage, and block, parry, and dodge rating, in addition to the base ilvl. These increases are also based off the upgrade template.
The amount of defense and damage the item will receive when leveled up can be shown below the upgrade cost and decrease percentages in the upgrade template window. All armor and weapons that are not practice equipment get these stats when they level up. The market determines the value of these stats. A weapon or armor that has perfect rolls can command more than an unupp'd version. This is also true for other pieces of armor, like tiaras or circlets.
